Alicia Keys took back the #1 spot this week, in her off-again, on-again reign, weathering each week's new additions. Ms. Keys was joined by Rock outfits The Mars Volta and Bullet For My Valentine, who held #3 and #4 respectively, after The Juno Soundtrack. Keyshia Cole gained over 17% in sales since last week, bumping Chris Brown and getting a strong surge of Interscope energy. Lupe Fiasco fell from the Top 5 overall urban artists for the first week since his release. G.O.O.D. Music crooner John Legend joins the charts with his live album, closing out the caption with a #27 spot.

Jay-Z Apple News

After Macworld came and went with no announcement about a Jay-Z/Apple music intiative, the "what’s he going to do next chatter" died down for a while and Jay’s been relatively quiet since. Now Rush & Molloy at the Post are claiming to have heard rumors that he’s working out some kind of label deal with Lyor over at Warner. They spoke to Lyor and he denied it, but of course Lyor is a lying TI, so anything is still possible. I would hope that after publicly hinting that Universal/Def Jam needed to figure out a new way to sell music, he wouldn’t turn around and ink a deal with another clueless major. Unless of course he knows something we don’t and Warner has something up their sleeves. But I highly doubt that.

Trina New Mag Cover

The “baddest chick” Trina is featured on the cover of the Black history issue of the prestigious “Smooth” magazine. It’s nothing like some ass in your face to get your day going.

Trina discusses the “liquid cleanse” diet and weight loss:

“Every time you’re hungry, you gotta drink the liquid. It’s pretty strenuous, but you really have to stick it out. I am not that little, and I’m not trying to be runway-model thin. I’m from the South, so I gotta keep the curves and the assets.”

Game Going To Jail

In an interview in the premiere issue of Monsta Magazine, West coast rapper The Game reveals that he has decided not to pursue the trial related to felony gun charges filed against him and is preparing for a 120-day prison sentence.

Game, who has maintained his innocence, was hit with three felony charges in June 2007 including making criminal threats and possessing a firearm in a school zone, for allegedly punching a man and pointing a gun at him during a pick-up basketball game at South L.A.'s Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex in February of the same year.

“The crazy part about this is that I've had guns before in my life. But this time I didn't have a gun,” explains The Game. “And because one person said I had a gun and coaxed his homies into saying that I had a gun, I'm in a predicament where I'm asking 'do I want to spend another million dollars to fight this trial so who knows what jury's gonna come in and say I'm guilty? Or do I want to save my money, go sit down for four months and accept this felony they're trying to give me for no reason?”

In the interview, Game also speaks on his upcoming third solo album which is tentatively titled LAX and also rumored to be his last album.

The premiere issue of Monsta Magazine hits shelves on February 12th. The mag is run by the former owners of The Source Magazine, David Mays and Ray "Benzino" Scott.
