New Music

This is the first single off Rick Ross third album. Rick Ross recently revealed that T.I. will be supplying beats for his third solo album titled Deeper Than Rap.
Ross divulged to MTV that the Atlanta rapper approached him about collaborating on his project which is expected to hit stores later this year.
“I was in the Grand Hustle studio. [Tip] told me he wanted to produce five records for me,” explained Rick Ross. “I was like, 'Wow. It's all good.’ We sat down, and he played some beats for me. It was one of those special moments, 'cause I got so much respect for him as an artist, as a lyricist, as a CEO. Now he reeled me in as a producer. Real talk. I'm not saying he's gonna sell them [beats] to everybody, but he laced me.”
Rick Ross also revealed he is working on a collaboration album with Birdman titled H and will be launching his record label MayBach Music Group.

Jim Jones Plots Summer '08 Takeover, Album, Byrd Gang & DVD On The Way
Dipset Capo Jim Jones has several projects in the works this summer; with a Byrd Gang album coming next month, followed by the release of his major label debut and documentary about his life and career.
On June 24th Jim Jones and his fellow Byrd Gang members (Chink Santana, Sandman, Oshy, NOE and Mel Matrix) will follow up the release of their new single "Splash" with a full length album. The album, which is entitled M.O.B. (Members of Byrd Gang), will drop on Jones' Byrd Gang imprint on Asylum Records.
In addition, the Harlem representative is also prepping a solo album for August 19th release through Columbia Records. As HipHopSince1987.com previously reported, Jones' childhood friend and business partner, Dame Dash, recently went on the record calling the Byrd Gang front man's major label debut a "classic."
"His new album, I think he might have come up with a classic, and that's me saying that," Dash said in a recent internet video.
Dash and Jones have been working together on The True Jim Jones Documentary, which traces Jimmy's life from his early days as a Catholic school kid from the Harlem streets to a "full blown superstar and business mogul." [Watch Below]
The documentary will be released two weeks before his solo album, on August 8th.

Damon Dash Calls Jim Jones' Major Label Debut ''Classic''
Former Jay-Z business partner Damon Dash believes Harlem rapper Jim Jones has a hit on his hands with this next solo album.
Jones inked a lucrative deal with Columbia Records last year and longtime associate and Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash believes the Dipset Capo's major label debut may just be a "classic."
"He actually put together a pretty decent album, I think, better than the average and what people expected," Dame told Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenberg in a recent interview. "He's a pretty respected dude and he has a lot of swagger. I'ma be helping my man Jim out trying to take him as a brand and making sure he gets to capitalize off that."
Dash grew up with Jones and said he's known the Byrd Gang front man since Jimmy was six years old. But he hasn't always been so supportive of Jim's career.
"I told Jim not to rap because he's not a rapper," Dash admitted. "I looked at him like a business man. But he has enough swagger and personality to pull it off."
Jim Jones is currently working on his fourth studio album, the follow up to 2006's Hustler's P.O.M.E (Product of My Environment) which scored with the infectious hit single "Ballin."
"Through his practice and his relentless assault on making music, a record every day, he actually got pretty good," Dame said. "So his new album, I think he might have come up with a classic, and that's me saying that."
According to Dame, Jim has two movies in the works, a book and a Byrd Gang album coming out in June, in addition to his solo project on the way.
"I'm proud of him, for real," Dame said.

Dame Dash Mr. Untouchable Releases Today

Hip hop entrepreneur Damon Dash says he has identified with Leroy "Nicky" Barnes since the 1970s--when he was a kid in Harlem, where Barnes' crime syndicate ran the drug trade. Barnes is the central character in filmmaker Marc Levin's new documentary, Mr. Untouchable--the moniker given to Barnes by the New York Times Magazine, when it ran a cover story on the gangster.
Back then, we all wanted to be Nicky Barnes," says Dash, who is one of the producers of Mr. Untouchable. "He was the king of style and swagger, and he was a great businessman. Drugs was just another business in Harlem--that's the way it was. A fact of life. But when Nicky ratted out his partners, he broke the code. Everything changed--there was no organization, the streets was wild."
Dash attributes the origins of gangsta rap and hip hop style--the basis of his very successful Damon Dash Enterprises--to Barnes' influence. "E'rybody still wanted to be Nicky--the godfather--running our businesses the way he did. And we wanted his swagger," says Dash. "Harlem sets style for the world--in Tokyo and Paris, everywhere, e'ryone follows Harlem's style."
No doubt Nicky Barnes is part of Harlem's History, as Dash points out. But he was a heinous criminal who dealt drugs, murdered rivals, hooked and killed his clients. So, does Mr. Untouchable deserve the career replay he's now getting? While documentary films can cover any and every subject, and this film's insider glimpse at Harlem's underworld is quite fascinating, it would be a shame if youngsters who're now the age Dash was when he was so influenced by Barnes were to assume an attitude of reverence towards Harlem's notorious gangster. Mr Untouchable doesn't exactly glorify Barnes, but it doesn't quite comdemn him either.
The DVD releases today so go to your local best buy or blockbuster and get it.

Jim Jones Re-releasing Mixtape For Retail

Jim Jones will be re-releasing his much-talked about mixtape, Harlem's American Gangster, on Koch Records.
The mixtape, which is hosted by fellow Harlem native Dame Dash, features Jones' Byrd Gang crew. Not only will it be remixed/re-mastered, by but it will also feature new tracks, including Rockefeller Laws.
"Some people do soundtracks to the movies about Harlem, we do soundtracks to the streets of Harlem, which made us who we are today," said Jimmy of the inspiration for the album. "Hustlers are some of the flyest people the world has ever set their eyes on."
Harlem's American Gangster hits stores Feb. 19. A video for the first single Love Me No More is currently in the works. Jim Jones plans to co-direct this video, much like the ones for We Fly High and the We Fly High Remix.
