A Look @ T-Mobile’s G1 Phone

The phone drops in November for 179.99 with a 2 year contract. This is the first phone to use Google’s Android OS and features a touch screen, full keyboard, trackball and 3 megapixel camera.

Let’s compare and see if the iPhone is better than G1 or it is the other way around.

First of all, let’s talk about the platform and the device. Apple Inc. created their own mobile phone, integrated their own operating system and even included their own content eecosystem. On the other hand, the G1 was created using an open platform. This simply means that any software publisher can easily design program that will work on T-Mobile’s G1 and to the Android operating system of the phone as well. However, it is still too early to tell if developers will be flocking the Android platform like they did with the iPhone. One point goes to the iPhone.

Now, let us compare the hardware specs. The iPhone is lighter compared to the G1. It only weighs as much as 133g while the rival is 158g. And although many iPhone owners used to rant about the battery life of the device, they should be thankful that their iPhone can last up to 300 hours (standby) whereas the G1 only lasts for 130 hours. Again, one point goes to the iPhone.

After a few months, let’s see if Apple Inc.’s iPhone still gets the lead against the G1 or other upcoming smartphones for that matter.

Apple’s October Surprise: MacBook Touch?

We love rumors, especially when it comes from Apple. Now use your imagination:

Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured Multi-Touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion’s haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at “low” price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick shit. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest.

iPhone 3G: 6 Days and Counting Down!

This is it. We’re in the home stretch. Bottom of the 9th, bases are loaded with 3G, and Steve Jobs is at bat. In 6 days the new iPhone will be mines and I will find out if it was worth selling my sidekick LX, terminating my T-Mobile contract, fave5 and my $70 a month bill after taxes.

If Apple does the expected and score a home run, it would be a two-peat for smartphone (even gadget) of the year.

The very highly anticipated 3G iPhone has just been announced by Steve Jobs back on the first week of June at Apple's annual WWDC. This time around, the iPhone is everything the old one was but better and amazingly, a lot cheaper. It has thinner edges, a full black plastic back, flush headphone jack, and it will be 36% faster than Nokia's N95 and Treo 750 in terms of pageloads. It also has improved battery life with 300 hours of standby, 8-10 hours of 2G talk, 5 hours of 3G talk, 7 hours of video, and 24 hours of audio. It will also come with GPS, so you know where you are all the time.

I mean it even comes in all black and a white version. They will be plastic hard cases so you dont have to worry about the scratches on the back. I mean Apple is also working on an application store so that various applications can be purchased for the new iPhone.

The only downside to owning this iPhone 3g is the phone plan increase.

All of AT&T's individual iPhone 3G calling plans have risen $10 when compared to those offered alongside the original iPhone. That's because AT&T is now charging $30 for the bundled unlimited data plans rather than $20, as it expects subscribers to increase their internet usage and throughput as a result of the new iPhone's 3G chip, which downloads about twice as fast as the EDGE chip in the original iPhone.

AT&T has obnoxiously reduced the number of standard SMS messages included with each plan from 200 to zero. To get those 200 text messages back, subscribers will have to pay $5.00 more per month.

And yes the iPhone doesnt have the copy and paste feature that all smartphones have. But doesn't that help us out in the long run? I mean the iPhone is going to be a tough texting task for me since Im coming off 1 and a half years with the sidekick 3 and LX. I was so use to texting without looking at the keypad but now its time for a new challenge. I frequently found myself making 15 minute stops in the At&t or apple store in the malls to play with the original ipod. So now I know the features and I have adapted to texting on it I think I should be good.

I will tell you one thing I work at 830 so I wont be one of those campers even though if there was a way I could goto work late that day I would. But since I have been talking about this phone everyday at work my boss already told me there is no way I can callout or be late this friday to get a cell phone.

My intentions of this post wasnt to sell you on this phone because Steve Jobs didnt cut me a check but I just wanted to help explain why I sold my 3 month old sidekick LX two weeks ago, and went 2 weeks without a phone to get the one phone I have been thinking about for hours into everyday.

Chris Brown's Laptop

First of I would like to say I want a MacBook or an Apple desktop so bad. Either one will do. Im still on my great Sony Vaio laptop that I received as a high school graduation gift back in 2005. I have already decided its time to make my move to Apple in July so I can get the new iPhone. But to get a new computer or laptop would be the icing on the cake for me this summer.

When I seen this I went crazy. Not only is it a Mac but its the MacBook Air, you know the one so tiny it fits into a folder but doesnt have a cd drive. So no burning cds for me. But hey I would take an all gold one with an iced out Apple symbol anyday. Gold laptops, ATV's with rims, I mean Chris Brown is picking away some of my dreams one by one.

50 Cent's New Video Game

With the video game industry creating an enormous buzz with the release of Grand Theft Auto 4 this May, 50 Cent is looking to capitalize with his second video game, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.

The game will be a follow-up to his 2005 multi-million selling release, Bulletproof, yet the game’s producer claims it will not only be better than the previous offering but that the upcoming game will cover new concepts and storylines.

“Blood on the Sand is something more exotic, more Hollywood blockbuster. This game set’s 50’s character against a cabal of international gangsters on a far-flung, bullet-riddled adventure,” Vivendi Games producer Aaron Blean told MTV News.

Although Blean will play a major role in the game’s development, he credited 50 Cent’s influence and suggestions to make the release novel in its locations and mysterious storyline.

“I would say it’s inspired by ‘Three Kings’ meets ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. It’s definitely a crime story,” Blean said.

The producer also hinted at some improved game play features suggested by the G-Unit camp that should help the game to compete against the relatively challenging video game market.

“When 50 was on site at Vivendi with Tony Yayo, one of the things they challenged us to do was introduce new elements of game play in the game. Blood on the Sand will include vehicle missions such as a driver-and-turret-gunner Humvee road chase and a helicopter-borne shootout, in which 50 and his ally ‘rain death from above’ onto enemies,” Blean admitted.

Although the game will look to break video game records and increase the G-Unit fan base, one key feature is lacking with the game’s option to play as Young Buck.

“[T]he second player’s character can be, at last count, one of three members of the G-Unit: Tony Yayo, Whoo Kid or Lloyd Banks, each specializing in different combat techniques,” Blean said in referring to Blood on the Sand’s additional character capabilities.

While details are still emerging, the producer has confirmed that 50 Cent will be making exclusive tracks for the game and that fans should expect to see various 50 brand integration in the game. As of now, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is scheduled to drop for the Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall.

Sony PSP 2 Concept

Here is a pic of a new Sony PSP 2 concept. It’s pretty sweet looking and seems to have a pretty big screen. Maybe this design would make UMD movies more appealing. But, don’t get too excited yet, this baby is still just a concept. Click on Sony or PSP under labels for the other PSP concepts.

Will.I.Am’s Dipdive Online Community Coming to Blackberry Handhelds

Blackberry handheld manufacturer Research in Motion announced this week that the company will be partnering with rapper and producer will.i.am to bring his Dipdive online community to the Blackberry platform.

According to Reuters, through the venture all Dipdive multimedia content will be available wirelessly on millions of RIM’s popular devices. The partnership underscores RIM’s increased push to broaden their reach beyond their primary base of business users and into the consumer market. “Probably the two hottest trends in wireless are social networking…and the other one is the multimedia, which is principally portable music,” RIM CEO Jim Balsillie said of the new offering.

Dipdive.com is a politically focused social networking site created by will in support of presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The Black Eyed Peas front man used the community to release his wildly popular Obama inspired song “Yes We Can.” The track and video feature a number of celebrities—including Common, John Legend and Fonzworth Bentley—reciting quotations from a speech given by Obama following his loss in the New Hampshire primary.

The Youtube version of the clip has been viewed more than 5.7 million times since its release last month. On February 29, will uploaded a new song and video called “We Are The Ones” which includes appearances from John Leguizamo, Jessica Alba and Macy Gray among others.
As reported earlier, will.i.am will be starring alongside Hugh Jackman in the latest installment from the X-Men series titled X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The movie began production in Australia last month and is slated to open in theatres on May 1,2009.

PSP Concept

This fan-made PSP concept is pretty sleek and has the push up cell phone design. It’s slim design and placement of the L and R triggers make this PSP very appealing to the average eye. The only question is: if it were actually sold, would it be just as good as the real deal?

PSP Phone?

Good news for all gaming junkies that are on the go. There’s a new concept that combines a cell phone and your Sony PSP. It features a widescreen 3-inch (480 x 272) display, PSP functionality via M2 card slot, dual-slide design, and a functional gamepad. Unfortunately this is only a concept as of right now, but if it does get big which I hope it does, it’d be a hot gadget to have.
