Looks like Flo Rida went and got an all star cast to support him on his debut album, Mail On Sunday, which drops March 18th. Hopefully the guest appearances won’t hinder Flo’s efforts to make his own little lane in hip-hop.
I like that they stuck with the whole mailbox theme for the cover, but to me his logo looks sort of buried and indistinguishable. They might wanna fix that up if the album hasn’t been shipped off yet to the pressing plants.

Bun B Talks New Album
Bun B isn't letting the death of friend and second half of UGK, Pimp C, slow his grind. According to Billboard, the emcee has set an April 29 release day for II Trill, the follow up to 2005's Trill.
The album, which is to be released on Rap-A-Lot/Asylum is led by the single "That's Gangsta" featuring Sean Kingston, produced by JR Rotem.
Featured on the album are an impressive array of emcees: Pimp C, Lupe Fiasco, Lil' Wayne, David Banner, Rick Ross, Mya, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Webbie, Mike Jones, 8 Ball and MJG, Z-Ro, Junior Reid and Expensive Taste ( Paul Wall, Travis Barker and Skinhead Rob ).
Production on the album will be handled by Mr. Lee, Scott Storch, Jazze Pha, Bigg Tyme, Black Out Movement, DJ Khalil and Clinton Sparks.
Bun B's last outing, Trill , reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop albums, and has sold 563,000 copies in the United States to date. The album was followed by UGK's Underground Kingz, which debuted last summer at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Bun B will partnering with Microsoft Zune for his spring promo tour, which begins in Fayettevivlle, S.C. today (Feb. 29). Fans can read up on the rapper's life on the road via his Zune page at Zune.net/BunB.

Bow Wow A Thug?
Bow Wow has been cast in an upcoming indie film comedy titled "Driving Lessons," in which he will play the role of a wannabe thug.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the rapper will appear alongside Chi McBride, Gabrielle Anwar, Evan Ross and Max Thieriot.
The movie will reportedly center around a woman in an unhappy marriage (played by Hope Davis) who is stricken with memory loss and forgets she had an interracial affair with her next door neighbor (played by Chi McBride).
Evan Ross ("ATL") will play McBride's son, while rapper Bow Wow and Jermaine Williams will play wannabe thugs who complicate everyone's lives.
Production on the flick will begin next month in Los Angeles.

Lil Wayne Pleads Not Guilty
Lil’ Wayne entered a not guilty plea at an arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday (Feb. 25) where he faces two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
The charges stem from an incident last summer in which Wayne was arrested shortly after his performance at New York City’s Beacon Theater. Police say they saw Weezy (born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) and an acquaintance smoking marijuana near 61st Street and Columbus Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Upon a search, cops discovered a .40 caliber pistol.
“My concern obviously is whether or not this was an appropriate search and whether or not they’re attributing what was allegedly found to the right person,” Wayne’s defense attorney Stacey Richman told SOHH this afternoon.
Ja Rule was also arrested on gun charges and released on bond on the same night as Wayne but in a separate incident. Richman represents both artists and both maintain their innocence
Wayne has been steeped in legal trouble lately.
He was just in an Arizona court earlier this month following a January arrest in that state for an indictment on felony drug and weapons charges. In that take down, border patrol agents found 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy and $22,000 belonging to the rapper.
Wayne will have another New York court date in connection with the weapons charges in April. He probably won’t need to appear because the attorneys will merely be entering motions at that point but Richman said she expects that the rapper will show.
“He’ll probably be there,” she said. “He’s very responsible.”
On Sunday (Feb. 23), the eve of his court appearance, Wayne performed at the Newark NJ’s Symphony Hall Theater. In spite of his legal troubles, SOHH camera’s captured a celebratory Wayne attempting to Crank That Soulja Boy on stage.

$5 B. Claim Filed Against Jay-Z, Bruce Ratner
Brooklyn activist Clive Campbell is seeking $5 billion from rapper Jay-Z, developer Bruce Ratner and Barclays bank, filing a “claim of lien” in property records that seeks the money for slavery reparations.
Mr. Ratner, Jay-Z, and Barclay’s are all linked through the $4 billion Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn, for which Mr. Ratner plans to build a Frank Gehry-designed basketball arena for the Nets and more than 6,000 apartments. Jay-Z, a partial owner of the Nets, has been a major supporter of the project, appearing at press conferences to tout its merits. Barclays owns the naming rights to the arena, and has been accused of having links with the slave trade—an accusation the bank denies.
In the claim, Mr. Campbell said that Mr. Ratner and Jay-Z worked “in concert” with Barclays, and “profited from the African Slave Trade and continue to profit from these gains, through a conspiracy dating back hundreds of years and continue to date to oppress Black people, enslave them, unlawfully deport them to all corners of the Earth.”
Mr. Campbell filed the claim in October with a group called the DA Black Defense League. Earlier this month Forest City Ratner dismissed it as not having any legal merit.
A representative of the Defense League said the group is filing a lawsuit in court for the action.
Diddy Takes Top Ratings Spot
When Nielsen releases its Trend Index next week, Sean "Diddy" Combs will likely be at the top of the ratings charts. The founder of Bad Boy Records and the Sean John clothing line helped draw in over 12 million viewers during ABC 's Monday broadcast of A Raisin in the Sun.
"I was destined to play this role because my father was killed when I was three years old, "Combs recounted to the Associated Press. "I grew up in a house with three women, my mother, my grandmother and my sister. I went through those years of having to watch my mother and my grandmother work two jobs and not being able to take care of my family..."
Although Diddy 's acting skills have garnered mixed reviews from critics, the broadcast drew the highest views among women between the ages of 18-49 for an original movie on network television in nearly two years. The television adaptation of Lorainne Hansberry 's 1959 play retained a majority of its cast from the 2004 Broadway revival, which also featured Phylicia Rashad, Audra McDonald and Sanaa Lathan. The film was also executive produced by Combs, who saw the Monday episode of his MTV show Making The Band 4 become the top rated adult cable show during the 10 p.m. hour. DJ Khalil Speaks On "Detox" And "Nigger"
DJ Khalil may not currently be the most well-known producer, but that may change with his contributions on two of 2008's most talked about albums. While explaining his affinity for Reason , the production and sequencing program created by Propellerhead, Khalil also spoke about crafting tracks for Nas Nigger album and Dr. Dre' s rumored swan song, Detox. "[Def Jam] sent me the record acapella, and I sent it back to them with this track and they went crazy, "Khalil says of "What It Is"According to Nas, who has yet to release a final track listing for Nigger, "What It Is" was an old track, which was not originally supposed to be a part of his latest album. Different versions of the song have been circulating via Internet blogs and peer-to-peer networks since November of 2007. "[Nas] heard it, and they heard it and the response immediately was, 'Yo we need to put this out, '"Khalil adds. Khalil says he has also been working at Aftermath Records, and that Detox is still a go.
"I'm a staff producer so I'm basically responsible for turning tracks in to him every month, "Kahlil says of his relationship with Dr. Dre. "At the moment I'm working on Detox. I have a lot of records slated for that album. And that's probably the most highly anticipated album in Hip Hop...almost in music. Everybody's waiting for Dr. Dre 's next record."
While fans will likely have to wait for both Detox and Nigger, due to release dates being pushed back multiple times, Khalil's production can be heard on current albums by Jim Jones, 50 Cent, Black Milk and Talib Kweli.

Lil Wayne Speaks On Addiction, R&B Album & More
Lil Wayne has become one of the most prominent figures in Hip Hop with his undeniable grind and persistence. This has enabled him to garner acclaim from the streets and from critics, resulting in major attention. But, he's also gotten this attention because he is a complicated figure, with alleged addictions and rumors of girlfriends here and there. In a recent interview with Blender, Wayne spoke on all of this and more.
First, he let people in on a dependency issue he has with promethazine codeine cough syrup. "If I go off it," he admitted to the magazine, "I go into withdrawal."
Later in the interview, Wayne spoke on aspirations.
“Fuck it, I’m not even a rapper. I’m past that...I’m an R&B singer now. Call me T-Wayne,” he said, after previewing a new song in which he sings with a vocoder. “I have an album coming out called Luv Sawngz. It’s me being more creative, more talented, more than hip-hop."
He even spoke up on the infamous photograph of him and Baby kissing.
“Every nigga talking shit about me? All of they bitches would love to kiss me right now.”
Although many chose not to speak on these matters, Wayne also discussed his violent tendencies.
“My mama’s a gangsta...She told me every day, ‘Nigga play with you, you kill him.’ I believed her, and I do everything she say.” He told the journalist he was being interviewed by, while pointing at his tattooed tear drops. "You see these four? Lord, forgive me. But guess what, you play with me, I’ll knock your head open and piss on your motherfucking eyes.”
Obama Supporters Fear For His Life
Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Robert F. Kennedy. Despite some obvious differences with these four men, they all have one thing in common: they were assassinated.
With this year’s presidential campaigns in full swing, people fear that Barack Obama—now the likely Democratic nominee—could be next.
The New York Times recently ran an article highlighting some Americans’ concerns for Obama’s safety. "In Colorado, two sisters say they pray daily for his safety,” the article reads. “In New Mexico, a daughter says she persuaded her mother to still vote for Mr. Obama, even though the mother feared that winning would put him in danger. And at a rally here [in Dallas], a woman expressed worries that a message of hope and change, in addition to his race, made him more vulnerable to violence.”
While it’s true that the country—and the world—have lost many agents of change by way of assassins, Obama doesn’t seem to be worried. "I've got the best protection in the world," Obama says in the article. “So stop worrying.”
However, people haven’t stopped worrying. In addition to supporters’ concerns, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D, Miss.) reportedly wrote the Secret Service in January about the current candidates’ safety.
"The national and international profile of Senator Barack Obama gives rise to unique challenges that merit special concern," Thompson wrote in the letter, according to the Times. "As an African-American who was witness to some of this nation's most shameful days during the civil rights movement, I know personally that the hatred of some of our fellow citizens can lead to heinous acts of violence. We need only to look to the assassinations of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and 1968 presidential candidate Robert Kennedy as examples."
If Obama is concerned about his safety, he’s not letting it show on the campaign trail. "It's not something that I'm spending time thinking about day to day," he said. "I made a decision to get into this race. I think anybody who decides to run for president recognizes that there are some risks involved, just like there are risks in anything."
A look at history reveals that despite high profile killings of King and Kennedy—both of whom Obama has been compared to—politicians, and presidents in general have been the target of assassination attempts. Former Presidents Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley and the aforementioned Kennedy were all killed on the job. In addition, attempts were made on the lives’ of Andrew Jackson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, Gerald Ford—whose security thwarted two attempts in three weeks—and Ronald Regan.
In spite of fears that the country will regress to the days Martin Luther King and JFK should Obama win the nomination—and subsequently the White House—support for the Illinois senator is growing. The sizes of his campaign rallies have grown, and his security team nearly rivals that of a sitting president.
Obama has had Secret Service protection since May of 2007, the earliest protection for any candidate running for President of the United States.

Nas And Jay-Z Collaboration Album???
After stepping down as President of Def Jam months ago, rumors continue to run about Jay-Z next move. After it became apparent that he would be leaving the Def Jam family altogether, rumor had it that he would create a super label with his spouse/collaborator Beyonce after her Sony contract was up. Now, the NYdailynews.com is hearing unconfirmed reports that Jay is indeed planning his own new record label, Carter Music Group. Reportedly, after Jay teams up with Warner Music Group head Lyor Cohen to form the new label, Jay will partner with former enemy-on-wax Nas on a full album of duets, The Kings of Hip Hop, to be released on the label early next year. Jay-Z rep has yet to comment on the rumor.

Will Smith Wins Hitler Lawsuit
A London judge has granted rapper-turned-actor Will Smith an unspecified amount of damages in a lawsuit against entertainment news agency World Entertainment News Network (WENN).
The suit was brought about shortly after a story printed by WENN in which they claimed Smith had touted the infamous German dictator Adolf Hitler as a "good person." In actuality, Smith's comments read verbatim as follows:
"Even Hitler didn't wake up going, 'let me do the most evil thing I can do today.' I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was 'good.'"
Although WENN later printed a retraction, Smith's attorney Rachel Atkins contended that the retraction could not reverse the damage done to Smith's reputation as hundreds of media outlets reprinted or otherwise quoted the original story published by WENN.
Judge David Eady ruled in favor of Smith in that WENN had "wholly misrepresented" Smith's statements thus resulting in "acute embarrassment". Atkins stated that the money awarded by the court will be donated to charity and to cover the legal costs of the lawsuit.
TI Speaks On New Album
House arrest may have been the best thing that’s happened for T.I.’s career as of late.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, T.I. expressed the concentration he’s given his sixth studio album entitled Paper Trail, tentatively scheduled for release later this fall. When asked how much he’s gotten done, T.I. said,
“I’ve got about thirty-some tracks done, but I’ve got like sixteen that I’m in love with and I’m still working. After you get those sixteen, you try to make sixteen more to top them and you pick the best.”
T.I. also spoke about the various producers that he’s worked with, citing a few in-house producers from Grand Hustle Records (Little C and Keith Mack), Danja, J.R. Rotem and most significantly DJ Toomp. This would be their first record together since T.I.’s 2005 release King, as Toomp and T.I. had creative differences during the production of T.I. Vs. T.I.P.
It was reported earlier that T.I. was actually writing down lyrics for Paper Trail, and T.I. explains this change.
“People were saying how they missed the old sound, they missed that I’m Serious T.I., so I figured that I would try to tap into that element.”
Ne-Yo Arrested
TMZ has learned that R&B singer Ne-Yo, aka Shaffer Smith, was popped on Feb. 19 while driving through Cobb County, Georgia. That's so sick!
Cops pulled Ne-Yo after they observed him driving well over 100 mph in his 2006 Range Rover. He was arrested for reckless driving and for not having a valid license.
J.Holiday Arrested
The rising star was pulled over in Salisbury, Md. while driving home from a performance "at a high rate of speed" along with another vehicle, Sgt. Frank Russo said.
According to Maryland TV station WMDT, Russo spotted marijuana on the singer's shirt and smelled marijuana smoke, which led to Holiday's arrest. A small amount of the drug turned up from Holiday's center console after a search. Holiday (real name Nahum Grymes) faces drug possession charges along with the other occupant in his car, George Jackson. The driver of the other car, Rolland Wesley, faces traffic-related charges, but is clear on the drug posession rap.
Hell Up In East Harlem "The Entire DVD"
This documentary is based on the influences of gang members, drug dealers and rappers in Harlem growing up in 1970. Before Harlem was known for your favorite rappers, it was known for the violent gangs that fought against each other in 1970s. Afrikka Bammbada created a peace treaty within the gangs by organizing one of the largest crews, called the Zulu Nation. The Zulu Nation found a constructive way to compete with one another through rap culture, but when drugs like crack flooded the poor neighborhoods, it helped turn gang members into crack dealers and dope pushers in the early 80s.

Vantage Point Movie Review
Fresh from watching the movie vantage point and it is a iffy movie. It was ok. The concept was cool with the 8 people and 8 different views on the tragedy. But you start to get tired of them reshowing the same thing over and over again. And its starts to get annoying. But it is a puzzle and everyone adds a piece to the puzzle so it makes it interesting because it makes you become a detective yourself. The black guy in the movie kills me, I forget his name but if he wins any award for his this movie would be amazing. His acting skills in this jawn was the worst. But midway through the movie you know who does what. Its just that at the end of the movie everything ends at the same spot and its crazy. Its an ok movie to go see, but for people like me who are movie critics, I was chopping this movie up all the way through. Because you had the best safety car in the world. But yet in still its a hollywood movie.

My Cavs Have Made a Blockbuster Trade
The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired forward/center Ben Wallace and forward/center Joe Smith from the Chicago Bulls and guard/forward Wally Szczerbiak and guard Delonte West from the Seattle SuperSonics, General Manager Danny Ferry announced today. In exchange, the Cavaliers sent Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown to the Bulls and Ira Newble and Donyell Marshall to the Sonics. In addition, Cleveland acquired Chicago’s 2009 second round pick and Seattle acquired Adrian Griffin from the Bulls.
“Our primary goal with this deal is to create a positive impact as we head through the final stretch of the season and into the playoffs. We were very methodical in the process to make sure it was the best deal possible for this team,” Ferry said. “We’re very excited about what these players bring to us by adding a new dimension, and that we were able to impact this team without compromising future draft picks. This again demonstrates Dan Gilbert's dedication to this organization and city. At the same time, we have great respect for the guys that are leaving us and feel like they all contributed to our success.”
Wallace, a four-time NBA All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year, has played in 50 games (all starts) with Chicago. He has averaged 5.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 32.6 minutes per game. He was a member of the 2004 NBA Champion Detroit Pistons.
Szczerbiak has played in 552 career games (387 starts) and has averaged 15.3 points on .491 shooting including .407 from three-point range, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. In 50 games (one start) for Seattle this season, he has averaged 13.1 points on .460 shooting, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 23.6 minutes per game. Social studies teacher Michael Boculac at Poinciana High School in Florida was secretly taped screaming at students about the importance of studying for tests. Shocked parents and students said he went too far. The teacher is still teaching but Deputy school superintendent Terry Andrews told parents and press that the school makes sure it never happens again.

R.Kelly=Pied Predator: George Daniels goes public about R.Kelly’s affair with his daughter

Chicago music retail legend, George Daniels spoke out to Los Angeles radio station KJLH about the real reason why he and his wife, Regina, severed their 15-year ties with R.Kelly. Turns out the rumors were true, Daniels says they felt betrayed and disgusted when they found out that R.Kelly was having a secret affair with their college-age daughter, Maxine, right under their noses. R.Kelly even bought the daughter a car, which was confiscated by her parents. R.Kelly first met the daughter as a small child. (shiver) And George was R.Kelly’s closest advisor/father figure, while his wife served as his publicist.
R.kelly has responded with this statement:
“It’s hard to take seriously the moral outrage expressed by George and Regina Daniels over R. Kelly’s relationship with Mr. Daniels’ adult daughter, Maxine. The fact is that they had no problem with the relationship – indeed, they encouraged it – while Ms. Daniels was on Mr. Kelly’s payroll. George’s description of the affair is really sad, you can tell he and his family were torn apart by the deception……I’m actually pretty surprised how upfront he is about it.

Busta Speaks on Album
While Busta Rhymes took a longer break than usual between 2002's It Ain't Safe No More and 2006's The Big Bang, the dungeon dragon is making sure to kick off this year in high gear with a number of projects. He's knee-deep in his next album, Back on My Bullsh--, and so far he's hooked up with Dr. Dre, Green Lantern, Cool & Dre, Danjahandz, Nottz and Timbaland. Bus-a-Bus also recorded with Pharrell, who actually helped him come up with the title.
"I'm calling it Back On My Bullsh-- for two reasons," Busta explained. "I said it on [a new song,] and it stuck in Pharrell's head. And because this album, in particular, feels like vintage Busta Rhymes, in a 2008 way. It was original and appropriately the right thing to call the project. No deep brain-science ... nothing like that."
In the meantime, Bus is getting ready to flood the streets with a few mixtapes. First up will be King of the Remixes with DJ White Owl, followed by 48 Laws of Power with Mark Exclusive.
"It's the greatest street exclusives and greatest hits and unreleased exclusives, which is me going in, back to back," Busta said.
Then the Flipmode General plans to team up with Superstar Jay for I've Already Outshined Your Favorite Rapper, before he connects with Mick Boogie for Dillagence 2, the sequel to their mixtape tribute to the late J Dilla.
"It's gonna be crazy," Bus said.
Luda Launches WeMix.Com
Ludacris has just gone digital by launching his website, wemix.com, to promote all things hip hop and RnB. Essentially, it's a music community similar to soundclick.com, but it promotes collaboration between artists rather than just showcasing individual talent. The big draw to this site will be the opportunity to actually get in the studio and potentially work with Ludacris and his Disturbing the Peace fam. Apparently this is not only open to one lucky individual, but luda claims "we'll do it again and again." All you upcoming artists, producers and songwriters should take full advantage of the potential possibilities! J.D.

Andre 300 Clothing line
Andre Benjamin has finally unveiled his long awaited Benjamin Bixby clothing line to select press. Clothing line is inspired by football players of the 1930’s, which includes collegiate themes and athletic detailing like the his apparel shown in the image above. Andre, who has always been known as an eclectic fashion maven, has carefully designed over seventy pieces for his Benjamin Bixby collection which include wool sweaters, corduroy blazers, high-waisted trousers and more traditional polos. No exact date has been reported for the launch of the label but it is aimed for a Fall release.
Common is Green Lantern
After months and months of speculation, Common has finally verbally confirmed to MTV that he will be playing The Green Lantern in the recently postponed Justice League of America movie. Rumors around Hollywood were that Common was always the leading candidate but that Tyrese was in the running as well. Now we can finally put this issue to rest. “It’s a blessing really, to know that I could potentially be this superhero,” Common told MTV. “justice League itself is an honor, and Green Lantern is an incredible character to play. It’s a blessing to be associated with it.”
As we reported last month, the Justice League of America film crew was busy in Australia getting ready for pre-production when the plug was pulled on the project by Warner Brothers. Some speculate it is due to the WGA Writer’s Strike but there have been rumors of script revisions, casting issues and even tax issues with filming in Australia. Regardless, the film will still be made but it’s just a question of when. And at least the strike is just about over. In the meantime there will be no shortage of Common in theaters as he is starring in the police crime thriller Street Kings in April and the action film Wanted in June.

20th Century Fox has just provided us the official movie poster for the upcoming police crime thriller Street Kings starring Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, The Game and Common. Who else was offended by Hola Hovito?
When I first heard Hola Hovito at the end of the Izzo video, I thought it was gonna be Hov's next banger. As I listened to it on the Blueprint I was feeling it, until a statement that made it become the wackest song is this very great album. The cockiness of Jay-z by saying "If I ain't better than Big, I'm the closes one." This statement is crazy. Personally I think Nas is the closes one, and when did Jay get the balls to say this. He goes through his whole career idolizing Big and then he has the audacity to say this. This must have been that armadale and Cris (his champagne of choice at the time) speaking. This has become a controversey in my eyes and divides hip-hop into 2 divisions: the ones who think Hov is better than B.I.G. and the ones who think B.I.G. is the best. I fall in to the latter division. Many who fall into the first category are the youngins in the game of hip-hop (these people may be my age but I consider my self older in the music sense). This controversey sometimes creates beefs between my friends and I. If you don't know the words to Juicy or the B.I.G. interlude (less than 1 minute verse) I can't respect your opinion in music. These are the same kids who think Reasonable Doubt is the best album ever and don't listen to many classics like The Infamous, Ready to Die, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Midnight Mauraders, etc. Besides older people I only find 3 people who I can relate to in music, who are my cousin, and 2 of my friends from my school, with one being from VA and the other being from BK. It is sad but I think we must school these youngins. The 3 best rappers in the modern era (post 92, before that is before my time) in this order are B.I.G., Nas, and lastly Jay-Z. Some people may throw 2pac in there but I am not particularly a fan. We must get this straight, B.I.G. is the GOAT
Jay-Z Updates Fans On Future Plans, Promises Music
When Jay-Z stepped down as President of Def Jam Records, many assumed there was beef between Jay and L.A. Reid. At the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, Hov put all the rumors to rest.
"It wasn't a hostile thing," Jay told MTV on the red carpet. He also added that he would continue to work with Reid on future projects, “just not with me as the President of Def Jam.”
"You wanna end on a high note," he added.
And end on a high note he did. Kanye West’s latest album snagged several awards, Ne-Yo picked up one for his Because of You album. Rihanna’s "Umbrella" —which he also rapped on—was nominated as well.
The question on the Hip Hop world’s mind is simply: what’s next?
Last week, we reported that Jay and Steve Stoute would own and operate and advertising business. Prior to that, there was a rumor that he would run a digital record label with Apple.
The latter never came to fruition.
With all the speculation, Jay assured the world that whatever he was doing will involve music.
"I wanna continue to push the envelope, represent the culture well. Make the people proud. The next thing is gonna involve a little bit of everything. It has to involve music, 'cause I love music.”
In what may be the sign of a true hustler, Hov has found an upside to the downturn in album sales, insisting that the “consumption of music is at an all time high.”
“People still love music as much as ever. I'm trying to help other artists figure that out so you can make beautiful music and you don't have to pay your bills with your CDs. You're making money in so many other places. I'm just trying to figure that out."
T.I. Talks New Album
T.I., who is currently on house arrest, seemed to be in good spirits as he spoke to MTV News about his upcoming album, Paper Trail.
While he is unsure when the album will drop, T.I. promised, via phone from Atlanta, that he was going to make an impact. "It's a lot of bullshit out right now. I'm not gonna front. I feel it's definitely about time for somebody to come back out and kick this thing back in gear. The rotation is suffering right now. I intend to do something about it. It's just a matter of when."
Since December, when he sent a video message to his fans saying he was 30% done with the album, it seems everything is going according to plan. "Everything's perfect, everything's perfect," said childhood fan and Grand Hustle Records artist Young Dro at the Grammy Awards' red carpet. "His mind's state is Paper Trail. Since he's been home, he's recorded like 50 songs. Plus, he's writing [rhymes on paper] now, so y'all in trouble."
T.I. made special note of the record "Let My Beat Pound." "That's gonna be a big record," said the rapper. "It's a different record. It's a record I approached differently, and it don't sound like a typical T.I. record. It's basically about when you got your first car, one of the first things was to make sure your [sound] system was right. The love for the boomin' system. It has the sentiments of LL Cool J's 'Boomin' System,' but it kind of sounds like a Sir Mix-A-Lot [song]. It's kinda got the mood and tempo of 'Posse on Broadway,' but it's outta here." T.I. further mentioned that "Let My Beat Pound" would more than likely "serve the same purpose as 'Top Back' did on King."
T.I. promised to give his fans their moneys with Paper Trail. "Yeah, I'm definitely gonna make sure you have enough, man," he said. "Nowadays, with the age of the computers, you gotta make sure people have more than one song, so they won't download your single then look away to somewhere else."
The rapper also briefly spoke on the film American Gangster, in which he was featured. He was surprised that the film, which is being released on DVD February 19, didn't receive any Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Actor for Denzel Washington, but he is happy with the excellent reception the movie has received from fans.
"It's one of those movies that develop a cult following," he said. "Especially being a true story and having such phenomenal talent involved like Ridley Scott, Russell Crowe, Denzel, Cuba Gooding Jr., Idris Elba. It's got so many talented actors that ... [we] in the hip-hop culture saw ourselves represented. Even though it was in a different era, we were represented. It was flattering to me to see such a high-profile movie be dedicated to the Harlem era."

DJ Khaled Signs We The Best Music Imprint To Def Jam
Despite becoming the biggest star signed to Koch Records , Miami deejay
and Terror Squad member DJ Khaled has announced that his We The Best
Music will be a partnership with Def Jam Records .
Khaled , who gained acclaim for his 2006 album Listennn , has gone on to
become the primary deejay within the south, releasing albums filled with
routine collaborations by Lil Wayne , Rick Ross , Akon and Fat Joe .
Collectively, his two releases have sold over 500,000 units and garnered
radio play rarely seen by independent labels.
True to his way of speaking, Khaled commented on the deal. "I 'm proud
to be a member of the Def Jam family... I am extremely honored and
excited to be a partner with them in We The Best Music . I look forward
to creating great music and continuing the success. L.A. , Shakir and
Lenny S. , are you ready? I am! Let's go! "
The first artist in the deal is ACE , who appeared throughout Khaled 's
release. His information will be released by the label in coming weeks.
At press time, label representatives have indicated that the artist will
see a 2008 release.
Lil' Wayne Indicted on Weapons and Drug Charges
25-year-old rapper Lil' Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.,
was indicted by a jury with one count each of possession of a narcotic
drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving
weapons, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the Associated Press, Wayne pleaded not guilty at his
arraignment on Friday in Yuma, Arizona. His attorney, James Tilson
indicated that the rapper's tour would continued unchanged. Wayne
currently has a March 7 court date for a status hearing.
Lil' Wayne's tour bus was stopped Jan. 22nd at a U.S. Border Patrol
checkpoint near Dateland, Ariz. Federal agents found nearly four ounces
of marijuana, over an ounce of cocaine, 41 grams of Ecstasy and drug
paraphernalia, according to authorities. Authorities also found a
.40-caliber pistol registered to Wayne , who has a concealed weapons
permit in Florida.

Grammy Awards Wrap Up
The 50th annual Grammy Awards is officially in the books. Boasting
performances by Kanye West , his favorite guitar player John Mayer and
Amy Winehouse , the show may go down as one of the biggest in Grammy
history.
Winehouse , who performed live via satellite from a London recording
studio, took home several awards, including Best New Artist , Best
Female Pop Vocal Performance , Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year
for her breakout hit, Rehab .
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama picked up a Grammy for
Best Spoken Word Album for The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming
the American Dream . One of Hip Hop's earliest acts, The Beastie Boys
claimed the Best Pop Instrumental Album for The Mix Up .
Kanye West's GOOD Music label fared well tonight, living up to
their moniker of Grammy Family , picking up several awards. Despite
multiple awards, West came up short in his quest for Album Of The Year
, which belonged to Herbie Hancock for River: The Jonie Letters.

Snoop Dogg's Album Pushed Up to March
Snoop Dogg's upcoming album Ego Trippin' , which was originally due in
May, has been pushed up to a release date of March 11.
Interscope announced that they would be pushing the album up, which is
reportedly to capitalize on the success of Snoop's current single for
the album, "Sensual Seduction." The song, which is making its rounds on
radio and television, is currently No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Ego Trippin' also features "Never Hafta Worry," a recently leaked track
that has Snoop giving an account of his storied career has an emcee. The
song touches on, among other things, his time at Death Row Records and
his murder trial.
Ego Trippin' will also feature the songs "Hollywood Nights" and "Press
Play," the latter of which uses a sample from the Isely Brothers'
"Atlantis."
Rick Ross Explains M.I.Yayo DVD Purpose
While 2008 will see the follow-up to Rick Ross ' gold-selling debut,
it will also see the rapper foray into film.
On March 25, Ross will release a DVD, M.I.Yayo , based on street life
in Miami. The documentary counts down 10 of the city's most infamous
drug lords and details their involvement in Miami's drug world through
news footage and interviews with families and associates of the accused,
along with the accused themselves.
" When I was touring in Europe with "Port of Miami," the media question
of the day was, 'What is the 'other side of the bridge?' " Ross
remembers. " People all over the world want to know about this side of
Miami, I give it to them in M.I.Yayo. " He goes on to say, "I t is
incredibly shocking, and many think Miami is South Beach, that's it. The
world wants to know the real deal and this is it with M.I.Yayo. "
Ross ' sophomore album, Trilla , is slated to hit stores March 11, two
weeks before the documentary.

So every Tuesday on A&E they air a reality tv show called Parking Wars. It's Philadelphia Parking Authority at it's best. It comes on at 10pm and 10:30pm every Tuesday. I enjoy watching the show because now I know that parking in a handicap spot is a $300 fine. Its funny to see people debate over getting their car back from the impound lot, as well as seeing the PPA give out tickets on Broad Street. This shows you everything, from people getting boots, tickets, hassles at the impound lot and much more. I ran across two of the stars from the show in the van as they pulled up behind my car up Temple yesterday. You don't have to wait til Tuesdays to watch the new episodes, you can catch some video clips on their website. So watch Parking Wars.
